Best Practices
Student Best Practices
It is imperative that students take an active role in their learning. As education implements rigorous program of study and creates more opportunities for students to choose areas that align with their post-secondary career goals, it is incumbent upon the student to take an active role in his/her education and, ultimately, his/her future. Students’ best practices include:
- Be focused toward success
- Complete all assignments
- Be challenged – set goals as well as milestones of success toward those goals; re-evaluate routinely to adjust as needed
In addition to classroom lessons, engagement, and participation, students have opportunities to support and extend learning through:
- Participating in a Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO)
- Serving as a student ambassador to engage in selected experiences
- Community volunteering
Fundraising
Student fundraising experiences play an important role in the development of the whole learner. The benefits of fundraising experiences include:
- Teaching the value of goal setting
- Developing customer service skills
- Fostering creativity
- Emphasizing the need for and value of follow through
- Developing communication and selling skills
- Building teamwork
Guidelines:
- Follow all fundraising guidelines as outlined by each campus.
- All monies raised by the fundraising experience must be deposited into the aligned account within 24 hours; no monies should be “set aside” for cash use.
